Time for Slime

Do You Have Time for Slime? MEC Students Did!
MEC Slime

As part of the chapter on The Properties of Matter, Monee Education Center students focused on what happens to matter during physical and chemical change. We decided to make slime! We were able to watch the changes when certain properties are mixed together!

We are sharing our slime recipe.  It's easy to make.  But, kids, ask your parents/guardians before attempting to make your own slime at home.

Here is the recipe:

  • 1 4-6oz bottle of white or clear liquid all-purpose glue or washable school glue
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ½ tablespoon buffered or multipurpose contact lens solution<
  • Optional: Add a few drops of liquid food coloring for color
  • Optional: Add glitter
  • Optional:  Add 2 tbsp. up to ½ cup warm water to make your slime stretchy.

Pour the glue into a bowl.  In a separate small bowl add the baking soda, contact lens solution and food coloring. Combine all ingredients with a spoon or using your hands. The more you mix it the less sticky it becomes.  Add more baking soda if needed.

Winter means cold weather and inside fun. It can be challenging finding indoor fun!
